The Tree and Bigfoot

This is truly a picture which tells more then one story. What motivated me to make this shot? Photography madness I guess. A half hour before this shot was made I took one of my best friends for a walk. 50 kilo’s of pure muscle on four feet..eh paws pulling my arms out of body….Tired and all smelling like a canine I was driving home with my thoughts far far away when all of the sudden I noticed a true Kodak moment. Almost driving by this true piece of Suriname nature, causing a chainreaction traffic accident I backed up and just left my car besides the road with the windows still down and the key in the ignition. After 12 or 13 shots and deleting 5 old pictures in the process I went on my way to view them on the pc. At first I was a little bit disappointed. Why? I really have no idea. I liked them but that’s it. An exciting part of the picture was only noticed on screen and not while I was taking the picture. If you take a good look at the left top side of the tree you will see the first ever proof of existence of surinames version of Bigfoot….

or does it look like a werewolf straight out of Von Helsink?

The second story is about a long planned visit to one of the photographers i admire and whose work still makes my jaws drop. While going through a small part of my collection we talked about everything there is to talk about photography. When I talked about that day I shot the tree he told me he also had plans of eternalizing the tree with the image sensor. Not long after that we came across the series of pictures I shot that day. For me it was a honor for him to be amazed of the clouds, the composition, the whole scene! To get a complement from someone you look up to is priceless… and what was even better was the part were he motivated me to post it on shutterchance.

After that night this picture really looked much better to me then the day I shot it.
